A puzzle within a puzzle, Jane's Journal 5th GD piece

Hello everyone it's Jane here from Jane's Journal . I know it's not Monday but Tracy has asked for me to do a couple more guest designer posts for her featuring more of the fab new Dutch Doobadoo products she sent me to play with.
For my post today I used the brilliant MDF art Puzzle piece. These are such great quality and take paint beautifully.
I also have in my stash the brilliant soft board puzzle so I decided to put on my mixed media hat and combine the 2.

This is what I made

and some close ups

I made a crackle background using acryllic paints and used distress inks on the soft puzzle pieces. This is the undercoat blue which I then crackled
and the inky sprayed pieces before I stamped on them

If you would like to see how this all came together do pop over to my blog today here.

I am back again on Saturday as part of the new challenge DT post please do pop back and see what I made. It's lovely to read your comments too, thanks for your support during July...where on earth has the month gone to!

A Notebook Cover with Mixed Media

Hello Everyone <3

Today it is a new Wednesday and I want to show YOU a new project I created as a Guest Designer for Noor! Design <3

This time I've really gone beyond my comfort zone. And moved myself into one area I NEVER tried before; until now. I made my first Mixed Media project, on a notebook.

The cover on the notebook was entirely black until I started with it.

To get the vintage look I have used Gesso, Gold and Distress Ink. To create a vintage expression.

Noor! Design has some GREAT stencils with Silhouettes of girls on.

These images are a great idea if you are making cards to young girls. You can dress them up, used them in mixed media projects or do what I did. My whole project started with this tough girl.

After drawing the girl on white paper, I cut her out.
Since I was going to have her on a notebook. I started to place small random stickers with letters over the girl.
When the last sticker was placed, I cut off what was sticking on the outside of the girls silhouette.

Then I've used a thin layer of Gesso over the letters. Then I added several rounds of Distress Ink in diffrent brown tones. To get the right color.

In the end I cut her up in five pieces.

The tags are originally made from brown cardstock. But by using Gesso, Distress ink and some gold color on it. The result eventually became vintage tags. The joy of creating from scratch is just so wonderful!

I glued the girl on the tags, and then I decided to only used three of the tags on the notebook.

All the flowers that are used on the project. Are all painted with Gesso, before I changed the color on them. Then they fit better in style of the others colors and tones that are on the book.

On the notebook I have also used various kinds of metal decoration.
These were in a bronze color and I colored them gold. I've done that by using Wink of Stella Metallic gold and Wink of Stella Brush gold.

Under the charms and the flowers I have used Softboard Art Dots. These can be easily colored in the color you want.

Now you have seen my first Mixed Media Project.
I hope you like it <3

I wish you all a GREAT creative Wednesday, everyone <3

Fabulous Wonderful Friend

A floral explosion today lol.  I wanted to use the new Flower Power stencil from Noor Design so came up with the idea of using it on designer paper to give a watercolour effect.  I painted through the stencil using watered down gesso and then went over the flowers with Distress Glitter.

You can see the stencilling effect better in the picture below.

How CUTE is this butterfly, which is from the new Flower Power Paper Art sheet.  I used two glued together and finished off with some pearls (yeah. I think a pearl explosion is also going on here lol)

I used the delish 0460 Circle with Flower die to mount the sentiment (Anna Griffin) on to.

Last pic, promise.  I loved how this card turned out, even though I kept the outside shape as square I think the shaped template that I used for the top layer really pops off the dark background.

Flower Power and feeling Groovy, Jane's Journal 4th GD piece

Hello..it's Jane from Jane's Journal here which must mean that it's Monday morning as I am here for my 4th GD post for Tracy. Today I have created something to really wake you up .........................

pow!.........................can I take you back to those hazy days of Flower Power in the late 60s and 70s............... please meet Biba

Biba just had to have a really flower power background using the new DD flower power Paperart as well as some of the stenciling and the girl mask silhouettes. I used lots of distress inks and blending to create it.

and of course Biba could never be without a wardrobe of fashionable clothes..could she.........

If you would like to find out why I named her Biba and came up with this design do pop over to my blog here to see how those hazy summer breeze days of music in the late 60s and 70s inspired me to be "Feeling Groovy" ;0) I think I might be showing my age today!

Yes a really different piece today from me but it was such great fun to design.

Back next Monday,

Bye for now,

Jane x

New Ice Crystals Circle and Some Visitor Candy

Hello Everyone,

I'm running a little late with a stream of people at my door this morning interrupting my crafting day, lol.

I love the new Ice Crystal Circle die and as it has just arrived in thought it would be rude not to take it out of a packet and play.  I had the idea of this simple card for me in my mind when the Crealies dies arrived in, as equally I wanted to play :)

I had difficulty getting a good photograph as the sun is beaming in my little craft room so I have photographed onto some blue card behind too.

The paper is from the Shabby Christmas pad, yum yum.

The base was made using the new in stock Crealies 1 die.  Amazing capabilities as you can use two Crealies for a different affect or cut another one and layer onto each other to create an accordian card.  Endless possibilities.

I have added diamond dust to the new snowflake for a little sparkle.

Now we have also reached another 10,000 visitors to the blog making 50,000 visitors.  Woo Hoo, so time for a little candy.

If you would like to win the Tea Box candy below, leave me a comment below.  You must be a FOLLOWER of this Blog and the Noor!DesignUK Facebook page to be eligible to win. The tea box compliments the Afternoon Tea range but could easily be used as a chocolate box on your Christmas cards.

Have a good week.
